Matt Fritzinger, Executive DirectorAfter a short career in the Mechanical Engineering field (Graduated from UC Berkeley in 1995) Matt discovered teaching high school mathematics a more rewarding experience. Before long he also discovered that his cycling experiences (15 years road and mountain bike racing, 8 years working in bike shops, organizing local races) lent themselves to coaching, and formed the Berkeley High Mountain Bike Club. As the club grew Matt expanded his training to include becoming a Certified NORBA Expert Coach and also a Certified Wilderness First Responder. The success of the club eventually led to founding the NorCal High School Mountain Bike Racing League (2001). Matt is now directing the NorCal and SoCal leagues full time. |

Justin Morgan, Assistant DirectorJustin grew up riding BMX bikes in the foothills near Fresno, CA. He credits his mother with convincing him to invest in his first multi-geared bicycle; a Bridgestone MB-5. A storied career that included wholesale florist in Fresno and home-builder in Colorado (with plenty of bike riding along the way) eventually led back to Fresno to a job at the "Happiest Bike Shop on Earth". He was one of seven co-founders of the Fresno County Bicycle Coalition, a non-profit organization working to promote bikes for transportation and recreation at a bona fide epicenter of twentieth century urban sprawl. Justin completed studies with honors in Economics and Mathematics at UC Davis where, as a member of the Cal Aggie cycling team, he became active in bicycle racing. He still occasionally races on the road, on the dirt, and on the velodrome; though a handful of cyclocross races each year is probably enough to keep him sane. |
