The SoCal High School Cycling League’s annual Leaders’ Summit brings together coaches, assistant coaches, and ride leaders—both new and experienced—to develop skills and knowledge, share strategies, and build community. This conference will promote a holistic approach to coaching that creates an environment in which student athletes can grow and thrive. This is a great opportunity to spend a weekend in the company of peers and energize for the upcoming season.

October 23 (Saturday -- Morning): MTB 101: Learn the Skills to Teach the Skills

This clinic offers a “behind the scenes" look at the NICA mountain bike skills clinics. You will learn the progressive steps needed to teach anyone (even yourself) both basic and advanced mountain biking skills. You will also learn about experiential teaching techniques, how to accommodate different learning styles, and how to create a positive learning environment for young riders. Much of this workshop is experiential and on the bike. Saturday morning’s session is for ALL coaches and ride leaders.

Saturday fee includes instruction, league manual, breakfast and lunch. Bring your bike and safety gear for the morning skills clinic!

October 23 (Saturday -- Afternoon): Core Coaching for NICA Coaches

Multiple sessions designed to help coaches successfully manage practices, lead, and work with high school mountain bike teams. These seminars will cover core aspects of coaching and leadership in a NICA club. Saturday afternoon’s session is for ALL coaches and ride leaders.

Topics may include:

October 24 (Sunday -- Morning): Starting and Leading a NICA Club

Sessions for those starting or being a head coach of a NICA club. Sunday morning’s session is suitable for all coaches but is aimed at club head coaches.

Sunday fee includes instruction, league manual, breakfast and lunch.

Topics may include:

October 24 (Sunday -- Afternoon): Case Studies in Success

Sunday afternoon brings a new model for NICA Leader Summits; a series of case studies in success presented by experienced NICA coaches and Mountain Biking professionals. Sunday afternoon’s session is suitable for all coaches but is aimed at club head coaches.

Case studies may include:

Attend both days or mix and match. Attend either Saturday OR Sunday for $125 (includes breakfast and lunch) and receive 6 hours of time toward coaching certification. Attend BOTH days for $195 (includes breakfast and lunch both days) and receive 12 hours of time toward coaching certification.
